Bay Area sucks many people in and not many leave. Great climate. Lots of things to do within 200 miles (snow/Lake Tahoe, beaches/ocean, lots of sights to see, and pretty much a bigger melting pot of races and religions than probably anywhere else in the US.

The downsides? Property values are ridiculous. $200k buys you a 2500sq.ft. beautiful house in many many other parts of the country. Here? You're lucky to get a old run down duplex in the East bay for that money. Another downside which is the way it is in any populated area...traffic, and lots of it. Many folks live 50-75 miles away from the SF peninsula where they work in order to afford a decent house, but then they are spending 3 hours a day commuting. Ugh.


For our chosen profession, this is one of the best paying areas to work which goes a little way in making up for the much higher cost of living. What shop is headhunting you?
