1) when I'm idle, the car gets kinda hot.

2) when it's kinda hot, the idle is erratic and the car may stall.

Oil looks fine, mileage is good, don't seem to be losing any coolant (though I did find maybe as much as a quart dropped out over winter storage)

Any thoughts?

I smell coolant for a few hours after driving my car. The smell seems to be strongest on the passenger’s side but I can’t find any evidence of a leak. There isn’t any coolant on the garage floor on evidence of a leak on the engine or around hoses even the reserve tank level doesn’t seem to change. I replaced the reserve coolant tank pressure cap but that didn’t help. The car is a 04 with 42000 miles. All the hoses are original but seem to be in great shape, no dry rotting evident, hoses all seem tight. I was wondering if the heat from driving the car allows some out gassing of vapors between the hoses and clamps, or if it’s something far worse. Has anyone else experienced this before? Any thoughts? Thanks!

This happened ~2 years ago but went away by itself. Now, it's back as a hard error. I've seen posts that it's a purge valve of some type. The tech who previously looked at it said the electric motor/fan, which injects air into the exhaust on a cold start, comes on but to no avail.
Any suggestions as to how to remedy?

Many thanks,

'86 speed (cruise) control. The activation (diaphragm) unit with 2 vacuum lines attaches to frame member, just above the battery. One vacuum line attaches to engine vacuum. The other line is severed so I'm unable to determine where it goes. Manual doesn't show a picture of the unit. Requesting someone to check their C4 and see to what this vacuum attaches. This will probably solve the problem. Thanks, Ed

I have a 2000 Coupe with 85,500 miles. I just started to notice what sounds like a drive train noise when I take my foot off the throttle- suddenly mostly when I'm in a lower gear, or almost a downshift/braking situation. It's a dull thwack or sharp thump, and it sounds like it's coming from the forward part of the car.

It is not as pronounced as when the splines in the rear axles get hung up that let go with quite a "THWAKKK"" when backing up in a parking lot, etc.- did the grease thing, and that fixed it.

How about a motor mount? Perhaps a loose u-joint in the drive shaft? I hate to guess this one- a problem with the rear axle?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Best,

This week-end, we try to replace a clutch kit on a 1996 Grand Sport. The dual mass flywheel was in good condition as we expect. The ZF gearbox wasn't noisy. We found a valeo reference kit for dual mass flywheel, so we were confidante. At the removal, we found an old valeo pressure plate (same as the new). The dual mass flywheel is a LUK. We replace the rear output seal leaking.

At this point things go wrong. New flywheel bolts are not for dual mass. A mistake when a choose references? Pressure plate bolts to.... an other mistake?

And the big problem : the pressure plate is exactly the same, BUT the disc is a spring one for single mass flywheel. Impossible to do nothing. I try to put new compound on old one with new rivets IMPOSSIBLE. drills are on different diameters. Center mechanism is fix with 5 rivets on new and 9 on old one...

What is the good solution?

Putting a single mass flywheel of camaro, but ZF will be very noisy?

Found a cluth disc for dual mass flywheel, but it is very rare actually, so price is -ahhh-

Thank you for reading.

I'm very confused by the fitment of the tail light on my 2003 Corvette LS1. The tail light take the 3057 bulbs, but they are the bayonet socket and I don't understand how since the bulb has two filaments, which one lights as a turn signal and which one lights up as a brake light? I am just having a hard time understanding how does the bulb know which filament to light up, the tall filament or the short filament? I'm a novice, so i know very little, Thank you !

Perhaps this will help: Is it possible to insert a 3057 bulb bayonet mount the wrong ?
