CM Service Active Handling - Help C5C6 :)

I recently took my 2005 Coupe, Z51, Auto, 3LT in for 50,000 mile service and also for the recall campaign number is N100118 which adds a clip to the column wiring to avoid service active handling system warnings. Since I have gotten the car back I get that Service Active Handling System warning almost everytime I start the vehicle. After the column extends to memory position I can stop/restart the car and it goes away. It will also appear when I hit a hard bump or pothole while driving. I took it in and it is throwing a code for the active handling module in the center dash area. I think that module is wired back to the wheel thus sensing wheel position vs. car position. I think the clip installed is messing up a connector or something. The dealer says they want to replace the module. I think it is the clip they installed as it never did that before. Can you send me a pic or drawing showing the bulletin or column location of the clip so I can remove it and test to see if the problem goes away? Any help would be appreciated.

The clip they installed for you is to keep the terminals from distorting when the column extends out, stretching the wiring harness. It is possible that you need to have the harness with longer wires installed to keep this problem from recurring.

Can you list the code(s) that come up for us?

I am unsure of the codes. I could access the codes on my C5...can you access them on a C6 thru the DIC? I am wondering if they installed the clip incorrectly. I never had this error until they performed the recall campaign number is N100118. Can you describe the area in which the clip is located along with maybe posting whatever the tech has to follow as far as instructions, pics, anything that would help me redo the installation?

HI there,

If the code is NOT apparent when your steering column is pushed in, then you might simply need a wiring harness.

All you do is slide the clip INTO the connector and plug it back in.

It is at the base of the column and it connects to the steering wheel position sensor at the base of the column where it meets the intermediate steering shaft.

Allthebest, c4c5

It always happens when the wheel is retracted when I first start the car. When it is extended it never happens...like when I shut it down and restart it. It happens when I hit a hard bump or pothole as well. Can you supply a P/N for the extended harness? Also, can I access codes on the DIC like I could in my C5? I can't seem to find out how. I am sure there is a way.

You'll need an OBD II scanner to retrieve codes on a C6. Can not be done though the DIC.
