CM Intake Manifold Anti-Freeze Leak

'89 vet, I have an small anti-freeze leak coming from a bolt head on the in take manifold at the back of the engine, I discovered last week. Do you think I should replace the gasket or just try to tighten that bolt?

Have you done a compression test? Have you noticed any fouling of the oil? Depending on the condition of the oil, I'd think tighten, flush, monitor.

I had similar and replaced the gaskets with no grief--on the SECOND motor--the first being wiped by this same issue. I think it's a weak spot.

The oil looks clean, if I can just get an open end 9/16 wrench in there without dismantling everything I'll be Ok. The bolt is right next to a cross over tube back by the drivers side. I went out and bought a flex head. Yes I heard that these engines are notorious for leaks around the intake manifold.

Looks like a two day job to change out the gasket?

Yeah, a leisurely two days. I think book is eight hours. By the way, my $139 Ford Racing Gen III Bosch injectors took my mostly City combined mileage from 18.5 to 22.7--with 29+ on the highway!

Long as you're in there.....

Yes I thought about it. They were changed out in '06 by the previous owner.

Maybe repaint or powdercoat that TPI. Makes clean up a breeze!
