Question XM Radio

I own a 2006 Z51 convertible. I'm think of canceling the XM radio service since we don't use it that much, but I'm curious if the radio and NAV system will function independent of the XM service. In other words will I still be able to use the NAV system and local AM/FM radio if I cancel FM?

HI there,

Yes, XM is a completely different digital receiver than the regular radio and both NAV and radio will function accordingly without issue.

Provided you keep your XM Receiver connected to the Body Harness, you will still be able to receive the XM Demo Channel and the Emergency Weather Alerts. That is how mine works and I have not subscribed to XM for over 2 years.

My music solution was to install a Personal Audio Link (PAL) and use my iPod for music.

John

It's kind of difficult to remove your acct. from XM. They have many customers as hostages. They keep sending me deals like: ZWINBACK code
$19.95 for 5 months. Done it 3 times already! That's cheaper than the $77/yr deal they offer.

Be sure to request a "paper invoice" and don't use a credit card for payment.

They'll get you for $2 for the paper, but thats cheap when they try to auto bill you for $15.95 per month! They can't do this with a money order!
