CM idle changes

I have a 2006,6speed with the z51 pkg..When I drive around town for a while my car gets a hesitation when I accelerate from a dead stop.If I drive my car on the freeway for a while, the hesitation is gone and I notice a great improvement in acceleration.Any suggestions on a cure for this problem? I have 40,000 miles on the odometer. Thank you,Rod

Did the hesitation start with your MAF/air cleaner work? Also, is your car an auto or stick? Did you check for charcoal stickers loosening?

The hesitation has been there since I purchased the car new.I had it tuned with the hopes it would cure the problem. My car is a stick. What are the charcoal stickers? I am not familiar with these parts. Thank you for the reply. Rod

Rod, since you bought the car with this issue, it would behouve you to take it to your dealer for warranty repair.

You mention that the car has been "tuned." This may cause a problem with warranty issues. It all depends on your relationship with your service advisor. (I find bribes such as whisky during Christmastime always good!)

Anyway, back to your issue~ There are 2 activated charcoal stickers (located inside the air bridge) that have been known to loosen or come off and get into the MAF, causing drivability problems. Might throw a code too, depending upon how it gets trapped in the MAF. Oil is the root cause of the stickers becoming "unstuck." The oil gets there via PCV hose routing. This is where a "catch can" can help. It usually only occurs during high oil levels and racing the engine.

Also, if the car is "hesitating" on drive off, then there may be a code set but not a "CEL".

Hopefully C4C5Specialist will be along shortly to have a better answer for you, rather than my guesswork.

HI there,

Please expand on the hesitation.

Is it when you first start the car and drive or do you have to be driving a while ???

Have you ever had a check engine light on ????

Is the hesitation only when you do WOT acceleration ????

Hi,The hesitation appears after I drive the car around town for a few hours. If I drive the car on the freeway for about 5-10 miles, rhe hesitation disappears. No check engine light ever appeared. No hesitation at high speed, only from a dead stop,as when accelerating from a stop light. My car is a 2006,6 speed trannie with the the ZR51 pkg. Thanks for any suggestions to fix this annoying problem.Rod
