CM Tire issues

I have a 08 Z with 9600 kms on it and i noticed this tonight the right rear tire has cords coming through while the left one is still fine.

Right rear cord coming through approx 2 inch in from out side

Left rear with normal wear

I am going to try and get over to the dealer in the next couple of days. Anyone seen this happen before. I seen guys post about the fronts but never the rear with this type of wear. Will GM warranty this or am i on my own? Any input would be great.

HI there,

The alignment is completely off.

You need to obtain a validation printout for the alignment, showing what is wrong and then consult the dealership to see what they will do.

WITHOUT ACCURATE ALIGNMENT DOCUMENTATION, there is not any PROOF that there is an issue.

The dealer is telling me this is a Goodyear issue. Goodyear tells me its wore out and they can sell me new ones.

I am sure that i cannot just replace the one tire i will have to replace both is that correct?

I am trying to see if i can get another dealer to look at it.

Oh boy.

Well,
an alignment check is the FIRST course of action to determine if there IS a problem.

An alignment isn't very expensive either. It only takes a few minutes too. My front tires wore a little abnormally so I got one done and it was actually a little out. He gave me a nice print out showing it was all within spec when he was done. I doubt you'll want your new tires to wear out the same way regardless of who pays for them.

The pictures make it look like both tires are low on tread and possibly worn to the wear bars. What are the tread depth numbers on both tires, from inside to outside of each tire (left, middle, right side of tire)?

They ended up giving me warranty on the tire. The work says belt "let go". I also had them check the alignment and they said the toe was out.

Here is a copy of the alignment slip.

Can you guys tell me what this means would this cause the tire issue?

Thanks Keith

As you can see, GM "spec" is such a wide range that it makes it practically worthless.

HERE are the C6 specs you want for Improved turn in & straightline stability...

FRONT

CAM.........-0.45

CAS..........7.90

IND. TOE... .10

STR ANGLE....0.00

CROSS CAS...0.00

TOTAL TOE.... .20

REAR

CAM.........-0.45

TOE ........0.00

THRUST ANGLE...0.00

CROSS CAM....0.00

Let me get this straight, your wheels are off an inch and a half on your wheelbase? How bent is your frame? Can't just be a-arms, that's gotta be the frame. Shouldn't be off more than 2MM. (Shouldn't really be off at all in this age of computer aided frame maunfacturing.)
