I have an 89 vet L98. Last year I replaced the starter with a Bosh starter and had to add shims to make it mesh with the fly wheel, every now and then when I turn her over the starter wines as if I need to add more shims and then catches. Is there a way to mic up the proper amount of shims before I mount the starter or is it a hit and miss? The original starter did not have shims.

Hi there, You have to extend the starter gear by hand in order to measure the clearance in between the 2 objects, flexplate gear and the starter gear. Allthebest, c4c5 |
