Hi there,

Thanks - sorry to see the damage.
I don't like the way the jack pad sticks out (down) on those frame rails. Sure to get caught on something.

In any event I doubt a frame rail would have prevented ALL the damage as it goes up pretty high on the rocker.

The pads don't stick down - the entire rail assembly is one thickness - 5/8" . They run the length of the frame under the passenger compartment and have pads that extend out into the jacking area provided. They look pretty good to me but I have not seen or heard of anyone using them.

The rocker panel sure is a poor design.

Thks

hi there,

I have mounted them on a few vehicles, and the principle is sound.

Just depends on the angle of impact if they will help you or not.

I should have said stick out rather than down. I have some old style frame rails, just a strip of alum about 1 inch wide & about 5/16 inch thick. When I run over a speed bump the car sort of glides/slides over with no damage (except some sacrificial alum left behind)

With the built in jack pad I could see the additional friction point causing the car to get "high centered" like a 4x4 in the desert.

Just my thoughts, I prefer the old style for speed bumps. It is handy to have the jack pad there when you need it, but I see a possible problem as described above.

I keep 4 jack pads in a bag in the trunk for when needed.

Elite notes just 30 minutes - 4 sheet metal screws - hardest part is getting it in the air. Would like to see real photos of them installed.
