Hi there, Actually, the 17 digit VIN is broken down into different areas and does not correspond in ANY WAY to a number or letter conversion, each means something different. Restraints, engine, manufacturing plant, carline and model are all documented by the VIN. The 13 digit breakdown is below. This is out of a 1967 factory service manual. Allthebest, c4c5 |

Hi there, That 17 digit formula certainly doesnt work for any GM vehicle, after trying it on Corvette, Camaro, Impala and Avalanche. Simply decode as written, and you will be fine. The top part is better than the weight/numeric configuration which is ludicrous. Allthebest, c4c5 |

It does ??? Why would you use that 'formula' when you have the VIN break down in any service manual ???? The formula has NO BEARING ON OPTIONS OR VEHICLE DIAGNOSTICS OR EQUIPMENT> Or are you talking about ONLY VERIFYING THAT A VIN IS A TRUE VIN ????? Allthebest, c4c5 |
