Red face Loss of power at WOT

I have a 2003 C5. When I am entering a freeway, I enjoy the 5500RPM mark in 1st, 2nd then 3rd. In 2nd and 3rd gear, I find that there is a power hesitation then a pick up again. It is not RPM dependent. It is the same feeling when traction control is activated; the motor "shuts down" then revives again when trac control is no longer active. When this loss of power occurs, I am traveling in a straight line. I have the following mods on my car: Jet Stage 1 chip, Vararam intake, Vararam velocity stack, Granatelli MAF, Smooth coupler, Corsa Pace car exhaust and cross pipe. Hurst shifter. There are no other mods. Any suggestions on the power hesitations?

Put the stock MAF back in and remove the chip. Then see if it still happens.

The power hesitation happens now and again, it is not RPM dependent and I am not hitting the 6000RPM limiter. I will try and replace the MAF with the stock one and remove the chip; that is good advice. The only problem is that I have had the chip and the MAF mod in my Vette for five years now, this problem has begun to surface within the last year. I noticed it on the drag strip when I was doing time trials with the Corvette Club of Utah. It has been apparent ever since then.

Replace the shit Granateli MAF witch deceives the PCM by the stock one.

Don't use chip with it. Engine run lean....

HI there,
Actually, I am theorizing that your knock sensors are kicking in when you hit it hard.
This maximizes ignition timing and could create the condition your speaking of. And the fact that it is not a consistant condition, tells me that based on operational conditions, it either is there or NOT perceptable when driving.
Run a can of BG 44k and see if its as bad.
My theory is that the combination of the MAF, chip and the fact that it will reduce cooling 12 to 1 AF ratio, which is creating the condition over the long term carbon buildup.
Allthebest, c4c5

Will I decrease my performance if I remove my chip and go stock on the MAF? At the drag time trials, I am up with the ZO6's,(405HP) I leave the standard coupes far behind. c4c5, what is this BG 44K, does it have a part number or a brand name? BTW, the only time I "use" my vette is at the drag strip. I have used it over two seasons and have come 21st over 104 entrants. The rest of the time, I am an old fart who chugs along at 1500RPM in 6th gear, I do not hammer my vette with normal driving, I enjoy the scenery and my "blonde" too much.

HI there,
BG products makes it and 44K is the product.
As for what your experiencing, it could also be torque management.
A data list record with a Tech 2 when this occurs could tell you everything you need to know.

I have replaced my Granatelli MAF with the stock MAF and removed my Jet Chip as you have suggested. I will take the car out this week and try and do about 100 miles. Weather here has been bad; I do not drive my car in the rain. It is coming up for 6 years old in November and the window washer res.is still full of washer fluid from the factory. My wiper blades are still original.

I took my car out for a trip and completed approx. 300 miles. It went great. I put the chip back in and did another 300 mile round trip. I had no problems. I have since replaced the factory MAF with the Granetelli MAF and my slight hesitation is back. I agree with the forum in that the Granatelli MAF must be running the vette a little lean. I will install the factory MAF this weekend. Thanks for the tips. I will also run a "can" of BG 44K, it can do no harm to try it.
