CM Disabling F55 Ride Controller

How does one go about disabling the F55 ride controller on a 2004 car? It seems to be different from the F45 system, where you simply remove the RPO code and unplug the module.

I have tried that approach, and although the 'service ride control' goes away, it will then go instantly into limp mode 'maximum speed 80mph' without throwing any DTC's. I've tried the shock simulators, that allows me to drive for a bit before it goes into limp mode without throwing any DTC's. How does one go about eliminating F55 without going into limp mode?

HI there,
You have to reprogram multiple modules so that the controllers do NOT look for the module. It is NOT just an IPC recalibration.
Very time consuming.
About 2 hours usually.

Do you know which modules need to be reprogrammed and what the reprogramming entails? There is a shop four hours south of me that is familiar with it and will do the work, however, there is a local shop with a Tech II that would be willing to handle it if he knew what to do.

Every car is different with the calibrations.
They need to look through EVERY MODULE< determining what to do and how to change it. But they should start with the BCM.
You have to change the RPO configuration and it needs to be done with a GM Tech 2, not a Tech 2 flash.

So then, what you're saying is that nobody knows specifically what to do... With the F45 system there are specific instructions everywhere, "Unplug the ESC, then delete RPO code F45 from the BCM."

HI there,
No, actually, depending on your VIN will depend which modules to validate.
First, yes, you unplug the module.
Then, you will look into the IPC and BCM to see where the module information is at, and if the F55 is seen.
Once done, then you enter the RPO change and it would be done.

That actually doesn't work with the F55. Unplugging the module and deleting the RPO code causes the car to go instantly into limp mode without throwing any DTC codes. Not being an expert, I suspect this is because many of the systems are linked with the F55. I'd need a wiring diagram for starters. The F55 ESC module is much larger than the F45 module, and has several connectors, some of which go to the TCS and I don't know what else.

HI there,
Like I said, you must LOOK to see what modules are looking for it.
They all communicate onthe class 2 serial data line.
ONE WIRE to connect them all.
TCS is also another factor.
BUT, if you look with a Tech 2, you can find where they are located and change it.
I have done 4 and NONE were the same process. All F55 equipped vehicles.

c4c5,

Hi, I'm in the same situation with my 2004 C5 with the F55 option. My GM Tech used Tech II and removed all the F55 components (shocks, controllers and removed connection to the module in the rear compartment) - but still getting the "80 MPH Speed" Warning Message. I live in Fairfax, VA. I would like to contact you and see if we can arrange a meeting to have you apply your Tech II experience re: F55 and costs that I can pay to reimburse your travel and perform this service.

Thanks, Mike

HI there,
Please post up what codes you have stored and in which module, when the max speed is indicated on the DIC.
