i sent a question to my local corvette specialty dealership since they are having an open house next week. you know, the one dealership in every major city that specializes in corvette sales and service. heres what i asked (sent via email). "does your dealership have any "world class" certified technicians? if so who are they? if not, are any of your technicians partially through the program and if so, how far along are they towards receiving their world class certification?" get ready for this one, here's the response i received. " - Geno, I am not sure what you are asking, do you need a service appointment or is there something else we can help you with." "I will wait to hear from you." wtf?? i guess we'll be scratching grabiak off the list.

I would try and find out who responded to your question, hopefully it was a receptionist/office person. If it was an advisor or service manager, then you would be in trouble. BTW, that was a great question. More people should insist on knowing that before they take their vehicle in to a dealer.

I doubt the advisors at most dealerships know just how "certifed" the technicians are. The only ones that know are the technicians themselves, and usually the service manager (since the SM is the one who signs off to pay for the training).

Hi there,
Yes, this is a very big problem, but like Rob says it costs money.
I feel I was very lucky to find the dealership Im at.
If you would like a list of those GM worldclass certified in your areas, simply look here.
None is ranked above another and all are equally motivated.

100% true, and I would bet some SM's don't know either, especially the SM's that just inheritated the position. In my opinion both the advisor's and SM's should know, since they are dealing with the customer. Getting the right job to the right tech is half the battle.

that link for the world class technicians is great. is there any way to tell what city or which dealership they work for? the list only goes as far as to tell you what state they are in.

HI there,
As of this time, they only tell you what state they are in.
Just remember, there may be a delay in seeing names there.
It took me almost 5 months between the time I actually got my certification and my name being on the list.

well, i asked grabiak again for the 2nd time. Title: "please send this question to the service manager." Message: "does your dealership have any "world class" certified technicians? if so who are they? if not, are any of your technicians partially through the program and if so, how far along are they towards receiving their world class certification?" here's the response i received for round 2: "Geno, please advise what you are looking for and why, if you want to call and talk to me, please do so...." i suppose i could call them at this point and read my question to them on the outside chance that the service manager cant read but i really dont think they could have an illiterate in that kind of position. most of that job would require reading and writing, i think. if this was my local local dealership that sells one vette per year i could see it but not from a dealership that specializes in corvette. this really bothers me.

CM Dealers

I agree, for what you have to pay in hourly labor rates at the dealer, you should expect top notch, expert people to service your car. It's bad enough that they rape you on the parts, but this is even worse.

Just as an example, you would pay premium prices for the best Doctor to do your surgery. Why can't you expect the same with "other professional people"!

I know what you mean, when I take my car in for warranty work, it's to the point even then I expect an argument, or be screwed!! It should not be this way, and all dealers are not this way (that's the good part).

I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more!!!!!

well here's the answer i got from the dealership after asking the question for the second time: "Geno You want an answer, call me." i suspect i'll call them just so they can tell me all of their techs are qualified. i really like doing this via email since my fuse is short and if i did this at the dealership i would definately be over the counter punching someone. do you believe this sh&%. after being polite and asking twice, now i'm getting attitude from the jack#$%s.
