Interesting that the 400hp C6 in 2007 posted these track times compared to the 911 tt and R8

The car and driver test included the 400hp C6 Z51. This car bested the times from the new Audi R8 mid engine wonder (1.0 seconds . and the german supercar the porsche 911 Awd turbo (2.5 seconds) and lotus Exige S (0.9 seconds)

I think it was July 2007 but I didn't quite hear the fan fare for the 46 grand corvette coupe beating the Porsche that we keep hearing about this 75 grand nissan thats pretty dam ugly..

I often think it's some kind of ego thing with these auto press writers. Vettes & GM never seem to get the credit they have EARNED.

The writer figures "If I say good things about that less expensive, American made car, my readers will jump all over me."

"I'll just throw in a couple of back handed compliments, and focus on the Euro cars"

"Then the readers will figure I'm a savvy writer"

I purchased my 2008 Vette based on what owners said about current and previous Vettes not articles written by blow hard school boys...So let them write what they want about Vettes...RANT OFF

Well thats telling them...besides Steve Millen might not be objective and I am sure they track they tested this "prototype test mule " on was rigged a little bit to build the NIssan hype..

I'm sure its a great car...if not exactly pretty.

I hope GM reacts with a "competition package" for the vette...IE> non runflat tires..

I've read some say they've gotten an 8 second track improvement by switching their c6 to Nitto Invos from the goodyear runflats...

When my c6 runflats wear out? I'll be going with a non runflat design.. Not sure which but definitely will..The runflats are fine and I appreciate the runflat capability but if my CTS can run without a spare and regular tires and a pressure sensor than so can my Vette....

Thats the only mod for this new C6! I'm digging it with or without runflats...

Stock Nissan GT-R fares well in One Lap

Slightly over shadowed by all the drama surrounding the Vanishing Point Dodge Challenger, Car and Driver competed in the 2008 One Lap of America event behind the wheel of a stock Nissan GT-R. Typically a magazine editor going for an extended joy ride in a pre-production sports car isn't expected to severely push the vehicle's limits, which is why Tony Swan cruised to a decent 11th place overall finish in the event. Not a bad placement, but also apparently not good enough for some, as interested internet anti-fanboys have taken the opportunity to criticize the car based on its performance in the vent. However, the negative commentators neglected to take into account the seriousness of the top vehicles and their veteran drivers.

After spending one-on-one quality time with the GT-R, Mr. Swan also sings a slightly different song than some. He agrees that it is blistering quick, but maybe not as easy to drive as some have lead you to believe. The wide open track at Road America let Nissan's lovechild stretch its legs, but scaling down the venue did not directly translate. The Bridgestone run flat tires and inherent low speed understeer were a handful in wet and tight corner conditions. Perhaps it might have behaved the same way at the autocross venue, but lack of cone dodging experience (or more likely the lack of cones to dodge) led to a DNF for the car in the parking lot event. The drag strip also unveiled the GT-R electrical system's lack of launch control intuitiveness, as quarter mile staging methods interfered with the system's engagement. Despite a few difficulties, in the end the car was praised for its comfort level and ample luggage capacity for the week long journey. Thanks for the tip, Rexhavoc!
