Question What is your regular driver?

My regular driver is a black loaded, 08 Cobalt LT, and I've had nothing but problems with it.

I ordered the car in July 07 before the plant(s) went out on change over and it was delivered in October.

I've had it now for 3 months with nothing but problems, from a nut rolling around in the truck lid or rear spoiler (haven't opened it up yet, to grinding in all 5 gears and reverse when shifting either up or down, and no it's not fixed).

First thing I noticed was wind noise on the highway. Drove me nuts, fixed the major wind noise problem, but there's another wind noise I haven't looked into yet.

It has Onstar which I DID NOT want.

I have a 2007 Jeep Compass, was one of the first and had an issue from day one that has been fixed. I got the 2WD version and there was a module on it that when under heavy electrical load freaked out and was looking for the 4WD module. When it could not find it it threw two lights. After key off, the lights were out.

Anyway, a friend at Chrysler contacted an engineer and he was told a few got out from the plants, mine was one that had this issue. A quick flash and it was fixed but the dealer had no clue until Chrysler showed up!

No other issues with it and my next ride will be the Jeep Patroit.

Now go play with your tools!

02 Suburban z71 66k miles. On Ryan ext warr. I like it a lot, a few problems fixed under warr.

Intermediate steer shaft noise
Battery (2x) & associated damage (leak down took out windshield washer tank & pump)
Seals on front 4x4 axle
struts on rear window
alt (1x)
Rear pads (did myself @ about 25k - funny used to be the fronts went fast in Suburbans, now the rears)

I need to put tires on & figure there may be ball joints & idler needed. I believe they'll be warr. which runs till next May 08.

Seem like a lot? Maybe compared to Honda? I still like the truck. Same with Vettes, they do need attention, but when they are right, OMG what a ride.

I think many feel "the grass is always greener" with another make & then they get into it (BMW, Porsche) and find out that there are just as many quirks & weak links, just different.

What's the deal with Onstar, I just let the free subscription lapse & never look at it?

I wouldn't wast my money with Onstar, or Satellite radio though I miss the XXX Comedy channel.

Even though you don't have a subscription they can still access your vehicle and I have every intention of disabling it.
------
If you give me the year, model etc... I will look at what needs to be done to disable onstar in your vehicle, and post back with instructions.

I'd also like to add that the electric steering on my Cobalt is NOISY and the engine & trans are very loud. I'm not nit picking either, it's way above what any 'allowable sound' should be.

Sorry I'm French and live in France, so my C5 MN6 Z51 isn't my daily car... Just for fun on week end.

My regular driver is an 1.6l 16 valves petrol engine. 110 engine HP. by a french constructor.

I consider these items normal for its age and mileage...

Toyota has been great. No problems at all.
Infinity is too new to comment yet. Hope it's good.
