CM 1994 LT1 in a 1972

I am looking for threads or how to articles on dropping a 1994 LT1 in a 1972 that is how a small block 4speed. Primary, can the ecm run and manage the engine alone. The 94 vette was 6 speed.

HI there,
A few things would be suggested.
First, go for a 94 Camaro wiring harness and PCM.
This will run the car, without needing interface from the Corvette CCM to enable the fuel system.
Next, its a drop in as far as bolting in the engine to the transmission and engine mounts.
Key things are coolant flow and electrical cooling fan, or if your feeling really adventurous, you can install the fan clutch assembly out of a 1996 Caprice that uses this system. It can be still purchased from GM and works very well.
Your biggest challenge is the clutch system, as the dual mass six speed clutch as very expensive and the input shaft of the 4 speed will NOT work with it.
You can try a Camaro clutch, but the plate still will have the different splines.
So, my suggestion, is to contack LUK clutch system and see if they can tell you what clutch you can use backing this engine.

Thanx for the info. I needed a place to start. This is a long-term fun project. The 72 has not been touched in seven years. I’ll be doing a frame off, by the time I am finish the only thing left that’s a 72 might just be the body. I got a line on a harness and ECM out of a wrecked 94 and possibly a bell housing and clutch assy.

Would it be simpler considering my abilities to use the 94 Camaro wiring harness and PCM, forget the manual trans and go with a turbo 400?

HI there,
A better bet may be a 4L60 transmission out of a 1994 Camaro.
They are very reliable when built and all you would have to do is to shorten your driveshaft to the correct length and hook up the wiring for the Torque converter clutch.
Which would already be with the wiring harness if you get it for an automatic.
